Komodo Island
Tours & Activities from $3

Komodo, lying in the Flores Sea in East Nusa Tenggara Province of the Lesser Sunda Islands, is an island covered in deep jungle. Here, you will find the Komodo National Park, designated a World Heritage site.

In 1912, on this island where virtually no man had ever set foot, the Komodo dragon was discovered, the largest lizard in the world measuring more than three meters in length,. The Komodo dragon is a carnivore and feeds on deer and boar. Though it is also said to attack humans, how it actually lives in the wild is still shrouded in mystery. In 1991, the Komodo National Park was placed on the World Heritage List.

The area and its ecosystem have been strictly protected. The island is in the midst of strong currents which have made it difficult to reach. These currents have also rendered the surrounding sea remarkably rich in marine life. A beach made of shards of pink coral…. Limestone caves out of this world…. A distinctive natural environment created by a mixture of a savanna climate from the dry seasonal winds from Australia and the rainforest climate of Indonesia.

Why is it only on this island that this ancient animal has survived to this day? A real adventure awaits you in this last unexplored place in Asia.
