The highest and the biggest waterfall in Bali.

The location is very strategic on the edge of main road from Denpasar – Bedugul – Singaraja or the other way with good infrastructure make this waterfall as on as one of main tourist destination in North of Bali. Precisely, at Gitgit countryside, Sukasada sub district and about 10 Km from Singaraja Town or about 70 Km from Denpasar. It can be accessed within two and a half hours from Kuta. It different with most waterfalls which usually located in the rural area or in the middle of the great forest, Gitgit Waterfall is really close to the main road, just between villages and clove plantations. The position of Gitgit waterfall is on the plateau about 300 meters above sea levels. This spot was opened on 1975, as tourist destinations in north part of Bali. Since it was known as a tourist destination in Bali, many tourists from domestic and foreign countries visits this waterfall during holiday mainly for those who spend holiday in northern par of Bali.

In improving the quality of the service as tourism spot, there are some facilities are available here such as tourist information center, wide area for parking lot, art shops, restaurant or even good path access to reach the main point . In the Parking lot, the visitors can take a rest while enjoy the beauty panorama of rice terrace and Buleleng Beach far down to northern part. There are also some of the island's common plantation crops fro example; cacao, coffee, clove and nutmeg. Some stalls selling handicrafts and spices line the concrete path to the ticket counter which stands amidst trees. Once you reach the ticket counter, it means that you are around 700 meters from the famous waterfall. For entrance fee, you have to pay admission around IDR 5,000.00 per person. This spot opens on at 08.00-16.00 pm daily, except for Nyepi day (Silent Day). The best time to visit it is around 09.00 to 14.00. At that time, you will not feel cold so much since the air condition is not too cold.

Then, you have to go up and down through the path to reach the waterfall. The path and stairs in this Gitgit Waterfall well maintained making it easier for tourists to visit it. However, the visitors are not allowed to get there by a car or motorbike. To get the main spot of the waterfall, you need to wall for a ten minutes.

The first path is a stepped concrete path bordered by trees and shrubs on one side and a myriad of colorful shops on the other. Halfway along the scene changes and on both sides you can see coffee and clove trees of the local people. It is going to be nice moment to have a refreshing experience to walk in this settle down area where your trip will be accompanied by birds that take turns to sing.

At some point, you will also arrive in rice fields and enjoy the breathtaking view here while transmittable up your breath. The air is cool and gradually gets colder as you approach the waterfall. A short distance from the waterfall, the fine water sprays mist will fresh your body. In certain time, the atmosphere will become steamy.

The trip continue by following the river, crossing a simple bridge, and trekking a bit uphill, step on the path or sometimes touch and take picture of the plantation and animals around. From the bridge, you can see a river with calm and pristine water and hear the sound of the water. It's the perfect place to be in awe of the beauty of nature amid tranquil surroundings.

The sound of the waterfall can be heard from 200 meters away hitting the big stones below. When arriving at the location, the visitors will be offered to see Gitgit natural waterfall with a large place. High waterfall and clear makes this as one of favorite waterfalls in Buleleng. The waterfall is 35 feet with very beautiful and has a beautiful panorama and the area in cool temperate environments. Around hundreds meters from the main spot of Gitgit waterfall, there is also twin waterfall. Two waterfalls flow under the same spot down.
