Discovery Mall - a shopping spot in Bali

A huge shopping mall 『Discovery Mall』 was opened on Jalan Kartika Plaza street in 2004.
Discovery Mall has it all.

The parking space is underground,  QUICKSILVER，Bilabong, the  popular surf shops and  many other shops  are on the 1ST floor.
The 2Nd floor is the department store  CENTRO. The 3RD floor has a food court and an electric store.
But this is not enough. Expansion plans are on the way.
This is a very popular shopping spot among locals too. . It’s so popular, traffic jam on the surrounding streets are common on the weekend.

＜Suggestion for making full use of Discovery Mall ＞
 １．Buy all souvenirs you need to take back home.
⇒You can’t over look Bali’s general goods with the stress free environment. Bargaining is a common method of shopping in Bali,but it gets tiresome after awhile. The large souvenir shop is on the 2ND floor  and a variety of goods, such as aroma goods, popular trendy goods, etc…..are all in one shop.

 
２．For ladies only
  Sandals, Must check!
In summer in Japan, it doesn’t matter how many pairs of sandals you own. The more the merrier.
Shoe stores on the 2ND floor are must check! From casual sandals under $10 to dressy sandals for parties, selections are completed. Prices are so reasonable, you may want to buy the whole section. Oh! My dream has come true!
Look for sale signs. You’ll be motivated to shop more

３．A place to take a break! Enjoy Kuta Beach! Sunset time is even better!
⇒It’s not bad to take a rest sitting on the stairs at the entrance, but I suggest you to walk through the mall to the other side. At the back exit Kuta beach is waiting for you. You can enjoy a snack or tea at the open air restaurant or just sit down on the bench and enjoy the view. The red colored sky is romantic

Modern urbanization of a development of such a shopping mall is a dreary diminishment of traditional old-fashioned Bali. On the other hand it is so convenient, even for the locals.
Though tiresome to walk around in the hot weather, let’s take a advantage of the mall. You can shop for everything in one trip.
The discovery mall is too large to cover in one story. I’ll introduce other stores some other time.
