Currency Renewal

July 2009, the currency was renewed, but this year again, the new currencies in Indonesia have been issued.

Rp. 10,000 and Rp. 1,000

Since the color is not clear enough, you may not understand what has been changed. What was actually changed is its color. It became blue (more like purple), although the current Rp.10,000 is red type. It is said that many travellers mess up with Rp. 100,000 currency which looks similar to Rp. 10,000 currency, and it is the main reason of the change.

 Eventually, there issued 1,000 rupiah coin (so far, paper currency only).

It may become impossible to use current paper type 1,000 rupiah. If you still hold many of 1,000 rupiahs and concern about its usage, please try to visit Bali sooner....
